Choosing Gifts for Gardeners
Many of us have friends and relatives who are passionate about gardening and many of us also don't know the first thing about gardening ourselves. When the holidays roll around or when that special gardener in our lives deserves recognition we find that we want to give them something related to their passion for growing, but what?
One great location to check for inspiration is your local Garden Center at Home Depot or other hardware store. When you think you know the gardener who has all the tools already, there is likely something they don't have. The hardware store is a goldmine.
By doing a little bit of homework you can discover what might be missing in their bag of tricks. Do they love to grow Spring bulbs? Try getting a new bulb planter. Are they constantly out pruning their roses and hedges? Consider a new pair of Pruning Shears.
If they seem to have all the tools then consider gifts which reflect their love of gardening. The Small Gifts for Gardeners page here on our site is a good place to find niche inexpensive gifts.
Consider tools and items that will take the toil out of some of the gardening chores your lucky gift recipient is now doing. Surely anyone who has ever done the rigorous work of double digging a garden bed can extoll the virtues of a new or sharpened shovel. And anyone who has ever blistered while wearing garden gloves can tell you that waterproof gloves are a great idea, too.
The key to selecting good gardening gifts is to understand the gardener. Most will be thrilled to receive a plant they can care for and then show off to you the next time they see you. The love of gardening and the enthusiasm many gardeners have for sharing their experiences means that so long as you take some time to discover what they truly love to grow in their garden, you will be able to select a gift they will always remember and appreciate.
