October Gardening Calendar
An October gardening calendar is now available on the site. We looked at the typical things a gardener might need to get done this month and decided we ought to offer a selection of reminders and gardening tips for the month of October. We will continue to offer these hints and tips for every month so expect the November calendar in a couple weeks.
We make no assumptions about what day or week you might have a chance to manage your garden chores and only offer a set of suggestions to be taken care of throughout the month. We hope you find the tool useful and look forward to expanding it.

Hey...I love the Blog...but are you open for suggestions?
I think it would be easier on the eye and more user friendly if you had an actual calendar posted with links on each date that you could then click on for tips.

Hello Jennifer.
The October Gardening Calendar is really still a work in progress. There is work ongoing that will allow a great amount of personalization of the garden-helper website. For example, allowing registered members to rate recipes, upload photographs, write reviews, submit recipes, comment on individual pages within the site, etc.
One of the intended tools to come from this will be a "My Garden Calendar" tool which will allow a member to view a monthly calendar in normal calendar layout and associate the items we have for every month to a day or range of days.
To better illustrate this consider the current October Gardening Calendar and imagine a small icon or link next to each heading that says "add this to my calendar". If you click that link then your personal gardening calendar would open and you could assign that task to a day or any number of days. You could then set email reminders to yourself, etc.
Writing the calendar to be specific to a week or day is in my opinion counter-productive. It's one thing to offer advice on what ought to be accomplished for the month and quite another to say do it on Tuesday or do it in the second week. There are too many variables in gardening across the country to assume to know what should be done when - this is best determined by the individual.
This all having been said, you ought to know that you are not alone in this camp. I have recieved several responses to this most recent release on the site that all lean toward the classic calendar view of things.
Expect some changes for November and I hope that what you will find then will be more to your liking.
